Our 1B Static Boom (commonly known as a Static Cherry Picker) course focuses on Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) which can move both vertically and horizontally. These platforms can reach further and, in more directions, than a vertical platform. These static booms can often be found on road-legal vehicles such as a dedicated track-mounted chassis or on a towable trailer attached to a van or truck.
A lot of variation can be found within this category, but all these static booms can only be used and operated whilst stationary. Before these MEWPs can be elevated, they must always have their jacks or stabilisers deployed – same as the MEWPs used in 1A Static Vertical.

Delegate requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
